The Persian Ardabil carpet is a type of hand-woven Persian carpet that originated in the city of Ardabil in northwestern Iran. It is known for its intricate geometric designs, typically featuring a central medallion surrounded by floral and arabesque motifs.

The Ardabil carpet is also famous for its historical significance. Two nearly identical Ardabil carpets were created in the mid-16th century for the shrine of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili, a Sufi leader and ancestor of the Safavid dynasty. One of these carpets now resides in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, while the other is on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Both of these carpets were discovered in poor condition in the 19th century and underwent extensive restoration efforts. The Ardabil carpets are considered to be some of the finest examples of Persian carpet weaving, and are celebrated for their intricate designs, skilled craftsmanship, and historical significance.
